8th November, 2009. 6:16 pm. It's 6:16 p.m.
and I'm in my pajamas.
Good day :) Enjoyed the sun with a lengthy walk through Overton with my SiL and BiL, Rob and Alex and August the Greyhound. We went behind the zoo and saw the wolves, elk and swans. Not that we were trying to get a free peek - we're members :) But still funny. There were TWO playgrounds, and lots of dogs at the dog park. All-in-all, a great way to spend a lovely Sunday. Lunch at Cafe Eclectic - mmmmmmmmm.
Tired now and ready for bed!

8th November, 2009. 2:49 pm. I thought they'd gone under?
Capital One's started sending out credit card applications again. The usual insanely customer-abusive terms wrapped up in "You've worked for and deserve this!" wording which I always am soooo tempted to juxtapose.
We're on the opt-out list. Never works with these guys.
I guess the economy is sort of looking up when the credit card companies start pestering you to open accounts again.

8th November, 2009. 10:45 am. Opryland's ICE!
We're planning a trip up to Nashvegas on Dec. 19th (leaving Friday, Dec. 18th, and likely coming back on Sunday Dec. 20th) to see the ICE! display at Opryland.
Info here.
Anyone else want to come? This looks like fun, and I've never been! Will definitely have to crack out the sweaters and thick socks!

7th November, 2009. 10:55 pm. Ouch ouch pain swelling pain PAIN ouch whine whine
This falls into the category of "I've done stupider things in my life, but right now I'd be hard pressed to come up with one".
Running a 100-yard all-out sprint downhill, in sandals, when you have plantar fasciitis and are very overweight. Really stupid.
Granted, I *should* have been wearing the nice expensive shoes with the expensive fitted inserts that give all sorts of support. Those would have provided a bit of support to reduce the damage done. But I was at a falconry campout, didn't want to get them dirty, and besides, I was spending 99% of the time in a chair or the vehicle. I was specifically STAYING OFF MY FEET. But when a redtail comes blasting in to nail a gyr-saker on the lure, all medical advice goes out the window as the entire brain focuses just on getting the hell over there as fast as possible to help break up the fight (birds are fine, BTW).
It hurts so damned much now I want to cry. Or break my rule against having alcoholic beverages when I'm home alone & lonely & in pain. Or crawl to the urgent care clinic and beg for painkillers. Anything but put cold cold ice packs on the swelling. It's already cold in the house without heat. *whine*
And I'm LONELY. Husband is on the road this weekend. My plan for dealing with that was to go to the falconry campout and spend hours around the fire BSing with friends, heading home midnight or later since it was worth the 30minute drive home to be able to sleep in my own bed. Only I left shortly before dark and have spent the rest of the night alone. Partly the foot, partly due to not feeling comfortable with my ability to navigate OUT of the unfamiliar woods, on narrow unmarked hunting-truck trails, hours after dark.
*whine*
Going to go lie down with more ice packs, some hot chocolate for my insides, some purring kitties to remind me I'm loved and needed, and a good book to keep my mind off of being miserable. This mood, this misery, it can be dealt with.
And one positive thing? I wasn't nearly as winded after that sprint as I expected to be. The cycling workouts are having some results after all.
